June 2005 President’s Message

The LBA Board, always working for its members, has some major improvements in progress to keep OUR club in top condition.

Diffusers for the air vents are underway to help with the room temperature, but do bring a sweater if you are too cold when 73 degrees feels like 63 degrees because of outside weather conditions.

Please chit-chat after boards have been played, not before or during. Everyone likes to move when the round is called.  Any additional suggestions to keep the game moving are welcomed. Please use the suggestion box for any ideas you have to help our players enjoy our club and games.

MESSY, MESSY, for goodness sake and good manners sake, PUT ALL YOUR DISCARDS IN THE WASTE BASKETS. There are many waste baskets all around the playing area and in the kitchen, USE THEM. Any volunteers for a police committee?

The good news is that over 25 under 299 MP players have been asked to play by a Mentor. Three cheers for all our Mentors.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

His pleasant attitude, and devotion to the LBA has endeared him to all of us. He has served on the Board of Directors many times. He was President for four terms, and Vice President twice, He served on many committees, and co-chaired many tournaments. He even continues to volunteer for many needed  projects when not on the board.  He joined our Mentor program and invites 299ers to play. Ed Baldinger is a true asset to our club.

HELLO TO ALL

I am honored to have been asked to take over editing the Kibitzer from Darryl Fisher.  Who knew that when I subbed for Darryl while he was in Hawaii, this would turn into a permanent gig!  This time around I will be ably assisted by my husband Raymond Miller in pulling the Kibitzer together.  If you have an article for the Kibitzer, you may e-mail me at sguthans@aol.com.  If you are not Internet savvy, you can still put Kibitzer materials in the envelope posted on the bulletin board in the hall.  You can also reach me by phone at (504) 283-3393 (H) or (504) 821-4121 ext. 133 (W).  The newsletter can only be what you want it to be if you contribute.

Probably the hardest thing we do is finding all the 70% games and all the tournament winners.  If I omit you, please let me know, so we can get it right the next month.
